Here is a list of local library’s that are doing free events in Southern Westchester and one in West Harlem. New Rochelle Library
Here is the link to their calendar to find out what times and days these things are. Some of them do require preregistration but all are free.
Baby Steps is a program of fun and early socialization through music, movement and finger games, for babies aged 3–18 months, and their moms, dads or caregivers, led by Nora Maher.
Nursery Rhyme Time combines stories, songs and finger plays for children ages 12–24 months, and takes place on a weekly basis during sessions held in the fall and the winter-spring, at both libraries.
Music and Movement introduces children ages 12–24 months to songs, finger plays, and fun moves, and is led by a professional musician/educator.
Toddler Time engages 2-year old children and their parent or caregiver in music and games, and takes place on a weekly basis during sessions held in the fall, and the winter-spring, at both libraries.
3, 4 & 5’s Story Time for children ages 3–5 years, includes stories, songs, and a take-home craft, and takes place on a weekly basis during sessions held in the fall, the winter-spring, and in the summer, at both libraries. This program is also offered in bi-lingual (English and Spanish) format at the Main Library.
Yoga Tots encourages toddlers ages 2–5 years to have fun “playing yoga”. Certified Kids Yoga Instructors from “Budding Buddhas” Children’s Yoga combine traditional yoga poses, props and engaging songs to build motor skills, confidence and relaxation skills.
Nature Tales for children ages 3–5 years, explores the wonder of science through storytelling, art, music and imaginative games. This program is seasonal program at HCL.
Global Tales brings children ages 3–5 years on exciting adventures through books, music, games and dances of the different cultures of South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Participants will also create traditional arts and crafts and learn a few basic words in native languages. This program is seasonal program at HCL.
Bronxville Library

April 4th 2-3 pm Rain forest Butterflies Join us for a spectacular display of tropical rainforest butterflies and moths, many collected by presenter, Steve Fratello during his numerous expeditions. Differences between butterflies and moths, tropical rainforest climate and geography, insect body parts, predation, camouflage, life-cycle and other topics will be discussed.
April 6 4-5 pm Baseball- Musical Adventures with Concrodia Conservatory Celebrate the opening of baseball season with musical readings of Take Me Out to the Yakyu and Casey at Bat. Ages 3 & up. Sponsored by the Community Fund of Bronxville, Tuckahoe, & Eastchester.
April 7 3:30 – 5:15 pm Family Film: Sing Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala, puts on the world’s greatest singing competition to save his crumbling theater. PG, 108 minutes
April 10 2 – 3pm Build a Duck Craft and Story Time A duck storytime followed by hand-making a toy to keep. Ages 3 & up. Materials are limited. Registration required.
April 11 2 -3 pm Sing Along with Irv Join Mr. Irv for an interactive sing along music show! Fun for all ages.
April 15 2 – 3:15 pm Family Film: Easter Bunny Adventure Hitch a ride with with the Easter Bunny as he goes on an unforgettable adventure! It’s the biggest Easter egg hunt ever and Benny the Easter Bunny can’t do it alone. He teams up with Wilma the chicken as they hop in a giant hot air balloon and journey to Fairy Tale Valley in search of the most amazing Easter egg ever: an Easter egg that can grant any wish one desires! Take the little one in your life to the Library’s Story Time for pre-schoolers! Tuesday morning Story Time is for children three to five years old. Caregivers must be in attendance and are welcome to participate with the children they accompany — that makes it a pleasurable experience for all! As such, we request there be no phone use or talking during Story Time. This is a very popular program, so get there early!
Homework Help

Homework Help returns to the Library starting on Tuesday, October 25 and will be held most Tuesdays and Thursdays through most of the school year. This program is for children in grades K – 8, and students must bring their written assignments and accompanying textbooks. They are free to drop in and leave when they’ve completed their assignments. Homework Help is also a good opportunity for beginning readers to read aloud to an interested teen. Snacks are provided.
Homework Help will not be held on school holidays, early dismissal days and when Pelham Memorial High School students have statewide testing. (PMHS students volunteer for this program.) The Library calendar will always have full details.
